Welcome to the Fall edition of The Beat!

Although 2020 has proven to be a challenging year, I hope you and your families have had a chance to spend some quality time together during the summer. The beautiful weather made for a welcome respite from the difficulties we all endured during the early days of the COVID-19 crisis.

In our article “Celebrating the small and mighty”, we illustrate how small businesses are an important backbone of the Canadian economy. We are blessed, here in the Heart of Orléans, with many excellent, small enterprises that employ our residents and supply us with amazing – and sometimes niche – goods and services. The Heart of Orléans BIA is proud to support you and be your champion during the COVID-19 situation.

During the various phases of re-opening throughout the summer, and with business continuing into this fall, we were proud to launch our BIA Faces of Business campaign in partnership with ChristinaLH Photography. If your business would like to participate, there’s still time to benefit from this amazing offer to support our two local food banks in exchange for high quality photos taken by an Orléans-based professional photographer. But the September 30 deadline is coming up very soon.

Did you know there are a couple new restaurants that were brave enough to open during the height of the COVID-19 situation? If you have a chance, head over to Dough Bros (you can check out the review in this issue of The Beat) or Centrale Bergham to check out their tasty offerings and show your support. You deserve a break today so let one of  these local establishments cook dinner tonight!

And, we would like to thank our amazing community members who have been devoted supporters of local BIA businesses. It’s impossible to overestimate how much it’s meant to local business owners to get back to work and provide you with the excellent goods and services you’ve come to expect here in the Heart of Orléans.
