The BIA is constantly working to maintain and improve the physical environment of its district to ensure that the area is inviting, clean and interesting.
Our City crews keep the streets and sidewalks clean and tidy and repair potholes and pavers.
The BIA improves the area with colourful plantings, graffiti removal, street furniture, public art and seasonal lighting.
Gateway signs, banners and historical plaques invite visitors to explore the heritage district and soak in the environment.

The BIA improves the local economy through activities such as:

Promotion of the BIA as a business, employment, tourist shopping or foodie area (business directories, festivals, advertising).
Hosting/sponsoring festivals and events.
Safety, security, and crime prevention initiatives, such as partnering with our local community police officer.
Graffiti and poster removal services respecting building facades visible from the street.
Strategic plans for business recruitment, market studies and capital improvements.
Advocating on behalf of their membership as a unified voice.

Being a member of the Ottawa Coalition of Business Improvement Areas (OCOBIA), and the Ontario Business Improvement Association (OBIAA), as well as the Ottawa Board of Trade (OBoT), allows the Heart of Orléans BIA to have a larger voice and obtain further reach within the city of Ottawa and the Province of Ontario.
The Heart of Orléans BIA is well established to provide a united, collective voice for our business district to all three levels of government.
Our BIAs is a catalyst for civic improvement and a significant contributor to the City’s economy and the quality of life of our BIA district.
Access to grants and cost-sharing programs from all three levels of government, which provides funding to BIAs for things like research, streetscape beautification projects and placemaking. These projects help create a more attractive and marketable image for the area and improve the atmosphere in the BIA.
