Heart of Orléans BIA

Freezing a Moment in Time

“Taking an image, freezing a moment, reveals how rich reality truly is.” — Anonymous

In the first quarter of the year, our Marketing Team, made up of community volunteers, came up with a way to encourage visitors to the BIA district and and to keep spirits up during this last stretch of the COVID stay-at-home order.

The team came up with a photo contest that was a “call out” to “professional and amateur – especially amateur photographers” to submit photos of their favorite parts of the BIA district whether it be food they ordered through takeout, a purchase they made or simply the landscape.

We encouraged families to get out during March (April) break safely for some exercise and it was a light, fun contest for any age group and for any level of talent. The winner would have their picture published on the cover of The Beat, our quarterly magazine, AND would also receive a free personal photoshoot with ChristinaLH Photography.

DRUM ROLL PLEASE….. Congratulations to Orléans resident, Christine Dudley on  winning the Heart of Orleans’ Picture Perfect BIA contest with her *picture perfect* photograph! Sunset on Centrum Boulevard  has found its rightful place, gracing the cover of the summer issue of The Beat.

The photo captures a stunning moment, one that many of us would not observe in the “busyness” of our day-to-day lives. It takes an artist like Christine to help us take the time to see and reflect on the moments of beauty and grace all around us. Thank you for taking a moment to pause and live in the moment, Christine!

Christine graduated from Alqonquin College in 1986 and from the University of Quebec in 1990. She worked 25 years as a Job Finding Instructor (15 yrs) and a Social Worker (10 yrs). When her position was cut in 2015 she decided to retire and give her time as a volunteer and enjoy more activities with family, friends and acquaintances.

Christine has lived in Orléans for over 40 yrs and has seen it grow and prosper. She hopes to continue taking pictures and discovering new surroundings and simple objects that become lovely photos.

Congratulations Christine!
