Community Compassion Centre

Did you know there is a new food bank in town?

The Community Compassion Centre opened for its first visit from clients on September 14, 2019. Its mandate is to service Orléans residents with postal codes starting with K1C, including the area from Youville Drive east up to Place d’Orléans and from Convent Glen North to Chapel Hill South.

The newly renovated food bank is located in the Pentacostal church at 1825 St-Joseph Boulevard.

The Community Compassion Centre is committed to responding to the needs of our community through food distribution. The important values of the centre include:

  • Compassion and respect without judgement – Turn no one away from services
  • Positive relationships – Always encourage positive relationships with clients and the community
  • Education – Promote healthy eating while reducing hunger
  • Collaboration – Engage and involve other agencies and service providers in our community.
  • Diversity and multiculturalism – Understand the diverse individual and cultural needs in our community

Whether you’re an individual or a group, there are many opportunities to volunteer as well. Only through collective efforts can the Community Compassion Centre achieve their mission of providing food and assistance to our neighbours. The Centre appreciates those who would like to better their community by donating their time and, in fact, volunteer support is essential to meet the food needs of our community!

With the holiday season approaching, Marlene Tosh and her team also have developed a Christmas program to ensure that all our neighbours have food on the table and gifts under the tree.
