Heart of Orléans BIA

Fall 2023

Volume : 8 ,
Issue : 2

Soon it will be back to school, sweater weather and getting ready for… dare I say it… Winter!

In this edition of The Beat, we speak with a managing partner of the hotel project going up at 3745 St-Joseph Boulevard to get his take on the development.

We introduce you to a few new places that chose the Heart of Orléans BIA as their home. Café Amore opened their doors in May and have offered the community amazing Italian coffee and treats ever since. Three good friends opened Trilogy Hair Lounge and continue to help everyone look and feel their best. And, finally, Raw, Fed and Furry offer all our furry family members high quality, raw food diet options.

Of course we have the regular history article covered and explain how we would like to pay tribute to the Duford family and we also tell you about our Pieced Together StoryWalk with local children’s book author, Timm Holmes.

As the year comes to a close, we felt it was important to provide an update on the BIA expansion planned for 2024. We caught up with BIA experts and advocates, Kay Matthews who is the Executive Director of the Ontario Business Improvement Area Association (OBIAA) and Michelle Groulx, the Executive Director of the Ottawa Coalition of Business Improvement Areas (OCOBIA) to see what they had to say about our planned expansion.

On the lighter side of things we tell you about the perfect day in the BIA, examine five foodie favorite dishes that you must try and we share a day in the life of a federal employee!
