For over three decades, Sonshine Families has been a beacon of care and support in the Heart of Orléans BIA. Founded by Len Goddard in 1991, this exceptional organization provides foster care and specialized programs for children and youth with special needs.
The idea for Sonshine Families was born from Len’s involvement in a community board with the Salvation Army and conversations with the Director of Children’s Aid of Ottawa. These discussions highlighted a critical need for care services, leading Len to create an agency focused on improving lives.
“We’re always striving to meet the needs of individuals and help them maximize their potential and life experiences,” says Len.
Sonshine Families offers a wide range of services, including:
These programs fill a significant gap in Orléans, providing essential care and opportunities for individuals who often face challenges accessing such services.
What makes Sonshine Families truly unique is their dedication to quality care and their team of skilled and compassionate staff. The organization’s success stems from a deep commitment to the well-being of others, coupled with a desire to serve the Orléans community.
When he’s not leading Sonshine Families, Len Goddard wears many hats. He serves on several community boards and is the President of Community Christian Fellowship Church of Canada. His dedication to community service is as inspiring as the work of his organization.
