A Concept Rooted in Tradition and Creativity

Owner Sam He, an experienced sushi chef, was inspired by both his own culinary journey and the legacy of his father, a Chinese chef. From this blend of experience came a unique idea — to cook with Canadian soapstone and serve meals on handcrafted wooden plates, made by Sam himself. The result? A one-of-a-kind dining experience that blends flavor with artistry and a touch of zen.

Rooted in Family and Community

The restaurant’s location was originally chosen by Sam’s father before retiring. When Sam took over, he transformed the space into the modern and serene fusion restaurant that Soul Stone is today. The support from the BIA and community over the years has been a key part of that journey.

A Personal Touch

Outside of the kitchen, Sam is a devoted dog lover and proud pet parent to two Shiba Inus. He even welcomes well-trained, friendly dogs to join their families at the restaurant when possible, adding another layer of warmth to the Soul Stone experience.
