How long have you been in business? When did you open your business in the Heart of Orléans?
Chantal Hackett is the creative force behind Sing House Studios. She came up with the concept back in 2005 while teaching in her mother’s living room in Orléans, with only a small number of students. Word spread quickly about Chantal’s voice lessons, and in 2016 she opened her very own studio in the heart of Orléans, home of hundreds of music & voice students, otherwise known as #singingaddicts.
Do you provide a Service? What Services do you provide?
We are leaders in Musical Education! We offer private or group vocal, songwriting and instrument lessons. We offer many programs like camps, popstar birthday parties, workshops, performances and artist development.
What made the Heart of Orléans the perfect spot to locate a business?
Chantal loved to sing, but struggled to find a community that she belonged to in the music scene where she grew up in Orléans – so she created her own! She came to the realization that many other individuals in her community felt the way she did, and needed a space to express their passion for music.
Which two BIA businesses, outside your own, do you love and why?
I am a huge fan of any business that hosts live music such as : Taproom 260, Royal Oak and The Barley Mow among many amazing businesses in the BIA.
What else would you like us to know? (Tell us a little more about yourself or business. What made you decide on your industry? Is there a personal story you’d like to share? What would you tell us so we get to know the face(s) behind the business a little better.)
Chantal Hackett is a Canadian Pop/Soul Singer and the founder of Sing House Studios. Born in Orléans, she grew up with a widowed mother who worked tirelessly to give her every opportunity possible. From an early age she understood that she would have to work hard for the life she wanted. That anything worth having comes with sacrifice, dedication & perseverance. Her entire childhood was spent from one stage to the next, from talent shows to music classes and even recording studios. Chantal credits her experiences with music for the person she is today. All of us go through challenging times, and her goal is to use music to teach the tools necessary to help students overcome obstacles and succeed in life. Chantal certainly did! Chantal has put in countless hours performing in her community and outside of Ottawa. “If you really want this: you will perform as much as you can because you will learn more about yourself after each show you do”, says Chantal.
