O-Train Line 1 East Extension: Progress Toward Opening

City Council received an update on the O-Train Line 1 East Extension, and work continues to move steadily toward completion. Construction teams are now focused on the final set of tasks required before the project can reach Substantial Completion and move into Trial Running — the stage where the full system is tested under real operating conditions.

This phase is deliberately meticulous. Every component of the extension must meet strict safety, performance, and reliability standards before customers step aboard. The City and project partners are committed to delivering a system that’s fully prepared on day one.

Based on current timelines, the East Extension is expected to open to the public in 2026, bringing improved connectivity and transit options to residents in the east end.
