Innovative pandemic and post-pandemic outreach

Orléans is home to many amazing small businesses but, of course, it’s not been business as usual for the past 18 months. 

So, we’d like to serve up a couple inspiring and creative examples of what some of the local businesses have been up to during the pandemic to publicize their products and keep their wares top of mind for their target audiences. 

At Déja New Boutique, owner Lillian Paul is always seeking fresh ways to reach out to clients. Even pre-pandemic, she used photos and videos on Facebook regularly with great results. 

She continued to market her wares online throughout the pandemic so her customers could still be on top of the latest treasures at Déja New, safely and easily, and get first dibs on some fantastic sandals, purses, or any of the other fashion forward items she has in stock. 

In the recent reopening in summer 2021, she has found that more new customers are coming than ever before and they, along with faithful customers, are bringing a lot of joy and smiles into the store. 

“You can feel the shift,” she states. “People are finding new joy in life and in shopping. At the same time, there has been an awakening about sustainability and repurposing of clothes that we have not seen so much before.” 

She and her team are always on the lookout for fun outfits, matching accessories like earrings, belts, and shoes, with tops, bottoms, and dresses to create a beautiful look. “Déja New has always been about glam and our photos and videos reflect this,” she adds. 

Local consignment shop Snazzy Seconds has become very social media savvy, too, updating their instagram account on the regular. From beautiful antiques to more practical kitchen items,  they pair up some of their treasures in fun and delightful ways to inspire some fantastic home decor ideas. Whether it’s this colourful drove of piggy banks (bet you didn’t know that’s what you called a group of pigs!) or this herd of dining chairs, you’ll always find something you’ve been looking for at Snazzy Seconds but couldn’t find anywhere else – and who can resist great products at great prices!?
