Celebrating 27 Years of Santa’s Parade of Lights with Bob Rainboth

For nearly three decades, Santa’s Parade of Lights has brought joy, magic, and light to the Heart of Orléans BIA, creating cherished memories for families during the holiday season. The success and growth of this incredible tradition are thanks in large part to Bob Rainboth, who has dedicated 27 years to organizing the parade. This past edition marked Bob’s final year as Chair of the Santa’s Parade of Lights, and we want to honour his legacy and the incredible impact he has made on our community.

A Brief History of Santa’s Parade of Lights

The origins of the parade trace back to its beginnings as a daytime event in Gloucester, co-hosted by the Gloucester Professional Firefighters Association (GPFFA). Bob Rainboth, along with co-chair Jim Anderson, worked tirelessly to create something special for the community. After condensing the parade route to focus on Orléans and reimagining it as an evening “Lights Parade,” the event quickly became a beloved tradition.

From 75 floats decked out in festive lights to the magical 3 km route along St-Joseph Boulevard, Santa’s Parade of Lights has brought together businesses, families, and community members year after year. Today, the parade attracts thousands of spectators and raises much-needed funds and toy donations for organizations like the Salvation Army’s Toy Mountain.

Bob Rainboth’s Legacy

As the Chairman of Santa’s Parade of Lights, Bob Rainboth has been the driving force behind this heartwarming event. Bob and his team of dedicated firefighters ensured that 100% of the proceeds collected during the parade were returned to the community, supporting local families in need. Through his leadership, the parade has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars and donated countless toys over the years.

Bob’s passion for bringing joy to others and his commitment to making a difference in the community will leave a lasting mark on the Heart of Orléans BIA. We, at the Heart of Orléans BIA, are proud to have been a longstanding parade partner, especially since this festive celebration runs right through our district.
