When it comes to choosing eyewear, vision care is only part of the experience. At Lunetterie D’Orleans, owner Mahdi Karoui is taking a fresh approach to helping people see clearly while feeling confident in their glasses.
Located at 2062 St. Joseph Blvd., the new optical studio opened its doors in 2026, bringing together expertise, style and a more personalized approach to vision care.
With 18 years of experience as a licensed optician and five years of teaching experience, Mahdi saw an opportunity to do things differently.
“After many years in the optical world, and hearing feedback from clients, students and colleagues, there was a gap to be filled,” he says. “A new approach to the client experience, a new approach to students during their placement, and a new approach to teamwork – we hope to bridge the gap!”
That vision is at the heart of Lunetterie D’Orleans.
The studio offers eyeglass repairs, contact lenses and personalized advice on vision care, along with prescription lenses manufactured through external labs to meet each client’s needs. The team also carefully curates quality frames with different styles and aesthetics in mind.
But what really sets the studio apart is the experience.
“We offer exceptional customer service to allow you a comfortable approach to purchasing eyewear,” Mahdi explains. “The inviting space welcomes you to stay a while and take your time to decide on your next pair of glasses!”
For Mahdi, being able to combine the different skills of an optician is one of the most rewarding parts of the business. The goal is to make vision care feel friendly, approachable and personalized while helping customers understand their options for improving their vision and protecting their eyes — without sacrificing style.
That commitment to growth, consistency and a passion for optics is what Mahdi attributes to the studio’s success.
For Mahdi, choosing Orléans was a natural fit.
“Orléans is where we have put down roots!” he says. “This area of Ottawa has a sense of community that matched the vision for our eye wear studio. We can’t wait to see the Heart of Orléans grow!”
And there’s plenty happening outside the studio, too. Mahdi teaches at La Cité, while Abigail brings her own connection to art and community. Together, they enjoy trying new things and are always open to recommendations for their next adventure.
With a new business, a fresh approach to eyewear and a strong connection to the community, Lunetterie D’Orleans is excited to be part of the growing Heart of Orléans.
