Serving Orléans Since 2009: The Story Behind Golden Fries

Since opening in 2009, Golden Fries has become a staple in the Orléans community, serving up award-winning poutines, hand-cut fries, burgers, Fish N’ Chips, and weekly specials — all from a 20’ x 8’ food truck kitchen.

Owned by Jade and Jesse, the business started as a one-summer experiment after the pair found a used chip truck online and decided to take a chance on working for themselves. Nearly two decades later, they’re still going strong.

What makes Golden Fries stand out is their commitment to quality and local sourcing. Their potatoes are ordered directly from a local farm supplier by the crop, burgers are made with fresh 100% AAA ground chuck delivered daily from a local butcher, and every poutine is made with St. Albert cheese curds and their signature gravy recipe they’ve used for almost 18 seasons.

Beyond the food, Golden Fries is also a Certified Living Wage Employer, offering competitive wages, health and dental benefits, and RRSP matching to their team.

For Jade and Jesse, the best part of the business has always been the community connections they’ve built over the years.

“We’ve watched kids grow up from elementary school to university and beyond,” they share. “It’s pretty awesome getting to know so many people in our neighbourhood.”

Outside of the business, the couple recently welcomed twin boys — making life just as busy at home as it is inside the truck.
