DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, September 28\, 2025\, the Société franco-ontarienne du patrimoine et de l’histoire d’Orléans (SFOPHO) will launch its brand-new book The History of Orléans (Ontario)\, From Yesterday to Today\, at 2:00 p.m. (doors open at 1:30 p.m.)\, in the Gisèle-Savage Hall of St-Joseph d’Orléans Church. \nWe are very pleased to invite you to the launch of this book written by a collective of one author (Guy Legault) and five co-authors (Suzanne Benoit\, Danielle Carrière-Paris\, Colette Côté\, Rolande Faucher\, and Rachel Major). This book is the result of countless hours of research using various sources: public archives\, censuses\, books\, newspapers\, magazines\, websites\, videos\, and a series of interviews conducted with witnesses of events from a bygone era. \nThis work of over 475 pages tells the story and development of Orléans\, a Franco-Ontarian community\, once rural and typical of French Ontario\, which has over time become a major urban hub of Ontario’s francophonie. This reference book is intended for anyone interested in Orléans—Francophones\, Francophiles\, young and old alike. \nWe will also take advantage of this event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Franco-Ontarian flag.
