Badge & Brief : Alerte aux vols par diversion
The City will begin a major watermain renewal project on St. Joseph Boulevard between Youville Drive and the Jeanne d’Arc traffic circle starting February 17, with work expected to continue until early May. This is a proactive infrastructure project to prevent future issues.
A recent condition assessment identified sections of the watermain that connects Orléans to the citywide drinking water system as needing replacement.
Construction will take place from west of Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard to Orléans Boulevard.
The goal is to reinforce this critical infrastructure ahead of increased spring and summer demand.
Water impacts are not expected, but affected properties will be notified directly if that changes.
What to expect:
- Two traffic lanes (one in each direction) will generally remain open, though some turning movements may be restricted as work progresses.
- A weekend closure of eastbound St. Joseph Boulevard near the Jeanne d’Arc roundabout is planned March 6-9, with a detour via Youville Drive.
- Local access for residents, businesses, and emergency services will be maintained. Businesses will receive advance notice of any direct impacts.
- Some nearby bus stops will be relocated slightly during construction.
We know construction fatigue is real in our community, but this work is necessary to keep our water system reliable and resilient.
