Ottawa School of Art Open House: A doorway into Ottawa Arts!

The Ottawa School of Art’s Byward market and Orleans Campuses are thrilled to be hosting their Open Houses on Sept 11, 2022 at 11am -3:00pm. The OSA Byward Market Campus (located at 35 George Street,) and our Orleans Campus (located in the Shenkman Arts Centre at 245 Centrum Blvd.) will be opening their doors and inviting Ottawa to come and see what the OSA is all about!

The OSA Open House will be a full day of Free Live Art Demos and hands-on activities with our skilled instructors. See our specialized studios, get to know the OSA campuses and what we offer to the community. Demos you will see at these open houses include Life-model drawing, Darkroom Printing, Photography, Cartooning, Monoprints, Landscape Painting, Woodworking, and Pastel Drawing. The Orleans Campus is also presenting its annual Instructors Exhibition reception in conjunction with the Open House September 11, from 11am to 3pm. The Ottawa School of Art’s Orleans Campus is located in the Shenkman Arts Centre, Orleans. The OSA Gallery is on the main Floor. The 2022 Instructors’ Exhibition features painting, sculpture, watercolour, mixed media, photography, textile art and much more. This year the exhibition showcases the artworks of: David Kearn, Dhanashri Bapat, Irma Gutierrez, Diana Guy, Janet Tulloch, Jim Lawrence, Lindsay Watson, Lindy Nadarajah, Nadine Argo, Sonia Arenas, Mahshid Farhoudi, Maryse Hatchard, Vanessa Dewson, Yulia Lisitsyna, André Breau, and Christina (Kina) Forney. This show offers insight into the wonderful diversity, skill and talent of the instructors who teach at our school.
The Ottawa School of Art offers a full range of specialized art courses including life drawing, landscape painting, photography, ceramics, sculpture, lithography, watercolour, etching, printmaking, and a wide variety of specialized short courses and workshops. Children’s and Teens’ classes range from multi-media to animation and cartooning, sculpture and construction, pottery, drawing and painting. In addition to art courses, the OSA’s programs have grown to include visiting artist-in-residence workshops, a professional exhibitions gallery (which hosts solo and groups shows by local, national and international artists), a non-for-credit Arts Fundamentals Certificate, a one-year Portfolio Development Program and a 3-year Diploma Program. A place that is teaching art to everyone.
